Let me start off by saying that my mission isn’t to score as much as possible, nor is it to not get laid, nor is it to find that perfect someone. My mission is to have fun and if any of the above happens in the process, then that is just how it is.

Now for the fun part. I got laid! Finally! I have this wicked bad cold, probably from trying to adjust to the climate and I’m sure all the drinking I’ve done since I got here hasn’t helped me much. Last night was a non-drinking night because of that. And maybe a little bit because of the half bottle of rum I consumed while playing Kings/Ring of Fire the night before. But more so because of the wicked bad head cold I was suffering from.

I’ve been hanging out with a lot of different people from the hostel, hitting up the beach, going out to the bars, making meals and just general hanging out. I took a liking to one of the guys, not in any particular way, we just got on well.  So he, myself and several others had been lounging ocean side most of yesterday, grabbed dinner and went back to the hostel to hang out before the usual Friday night rager that occurs in most beach towns. We bar hopped and ended up at the final one (where we always end up last). He and I were sitting at a table talking, blah, blah blah. Something about age came up and I asked him how old he was. He told me 34 and that he was old. I laughed and told him he wasn’t and I had dated someone (George) who was about twelve years older than I. He than asked how old I was. He quickly did the math and made some comment. So I replied with my standard age is just number.

Anyways, the night progressed, we went up to his room, watched some TV. He started rubbing my back, then we started making out and well, I think you can figure it out from there. Go me!

He’s helping out my country count (of all the guys I’ve ever slept with):

Canada

United States

South Africa

Switzerland

Me thinks me needs some more diversity.

Surf City Here We Come April 24, 2008

Finally at a decent beach where I can surf and that is my big adventure today. Should be good during the mid afternoon, so hot as hell, but good.

No luck on the guy front I’m afraid. There are some cute ones but nothing fantastical enough to write home about or crush on. I did dance with this one guy in the last town I was in but again, he just wasn’t doing it for me. Oh well, I still have about seven and a half more months of backpacking, so who knows what I’ll find in that time.

In other news, I got a very nice burn/tan yesterday and I hope top improve on it a bit. This time though, I have to try and not get the halter strap tan because at this point, I have way too many conflicting tans lines. Yes, I just said that. I enjoy even tans. Maybe I’ll hit up the nude beach half an hour from here. Tan all the white bits, like my ass!

I’ve had an eventful week so far, including having no idea where we were going or where we were staying. Friday night found me and my travel companions looking for a hostel for 2.5 hours. Our friend we were meeting never showed up and almost every hostel was full.

Friday night we managed to brighten our spirits and hit the town. We went to a bar where we got a case of beer for $33. Pretty good if you ask me. We called it an early night around 12 or so after consuming said case in under an hour, between for of us.

Yesterday, three of us went wandering around the town for about four hours and finally getting ahold of our friend. The four of us hopped in a cab and headed up to the hills where we got to play at a great house with a beautiful pool and an amazing view. We talked to the family that owned the place and they’ve been able to recommend us some really cool places to check out.

We checked into a different hotel last night, which was cheap and it showed a bit. Around 11pm, myself and the three guys Ive beewn travelling with, the guy we were meeting here and his friends who he is staying with piled into a car/cab and headed out for dinner. It was incredible, spicey, but just incredible.

So just what can $200USD buy you here? The following:

1 ten minute cab ride, 8 tacos, 8 soft drinks, 2 packs of cigarettes (Marlboroughs), 17 quad rum and cokes, 8 litres of beer, 2 26L bottles of Bacardi, 10 cokes

And that was between 7 of us, so it worked out quite cheaply. Go team.

I should be on the beach this time tomorrow, finally reunited with my surf, sand and sun! I can’t even begin to describe how horrible it has been being away from my love for almost 7 weeks.  Soon baby, soon. I will be riding your waves! And swimming. And sunning. And just relaxing.

Oh, and I met a great guy but I reminded him of his sister. Boo to that shit. (I don’t know if I posted about that yet. Sorry If I did)

I’m currently sitting in a bus terminal, waiting for the friend that we were meeting here before we can take off. Apparently, our bus leaves at 4. And its an overnighter. And we have a bottle of rum. This should be very interesting.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles April 15, 2008

I’ve safely arrived to not so warm weather. I’m a bit disappointed! But the view from my hostel makes up for it. I look out my window and I’m greeted by a beautiful old catherdral, a nomadic museum and a beautiful town centre. Well worth the $14! And I get free breakfast every morning which is an awesome bonus.

I spent yesterday afternoon exploring the city and taking pictures of all the old buildings. While I’m not a professional photographer with a professional camera, I think I did pretty well for myself. It’s a bit chilly down here. I think I’ll have to make my way over to the beach tomorrow so I can start getting that sun I’ve missed so much! Then I can also start my PADI certification.

I’m really super tired. I suppose not sleeping Sunday night can do that to you. I was planning on sleeping on the plane, but they had some good movies so I decided to watch those since it will be a while before I get to do that again.

I’ve met a few cute guys from Australia and England but I’m a good girl. I only flirted. Besides, I’m pasty and pale. Not a good thing on me. I like beach boys better anyhow.

Can’t Sleep April 14, 2008

I’m too anxious. My flight leaves in 7 hours. I’ll sleep on the plane.

By the way, there was something George said this weekend that I forgot to mention earlier. He doesn’t want to hold me back. He wants me to experience life. He said he was going to worry about me and wonder where I am and what I’m doing. And that he’ll be thinking about me. I’m the best and greatest girl he’s ever met. And that he’ll be there when I get back.

Could this mean he was a jackass after Christmas and a few weeks ago because *he* doesn’t want to get hurt? Hmmm…just as some suspected…
